The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in collaboration with the Joint Technical Secretariat of Joint Water-Agriculture Ministerial Council are organizing virtually an Expert Group Meeting to review the draft “Guidelines for Improved Water Allocation for Agriculture” on Thursday September 16, 2021, 11:00-13:30 (Beirut time) via Zoom.
The draft “Guidelines for Improved Water Allocation for Agriculture” were prepared based on the recommendations of the High-Level Joint Water-Agriculture Technical Committee in their first meeting in October 2019. The Guidelines developed by the Joint Technical Secretariat (comprised of the Arab Organization for Agriculture Development (AOAD) and the Arab Water Ministerial Council Secretariat (AWMC) along with ESCWA, FAO and Experts) aim to provide guidance to water and agriculture decision makers and planners in Arab countries for sustainably managing water resources in the agriculture sector.
This session will bring together for review and discussion experts from national and regional organizations in the Arab region along with international experts in fields related to water resources and agriculture.
