Persons with disabilities and the older persons often suffer from heightened vulnerabilities, marginalization, and exclusion from developmental efforts, especially during crisis.
In this context, and with the aim of supporting the capacity of the Government of the Sudan to integrate the issues of older persons and persons with disabilities in the policy-making process, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Ministry of Social Development organized a workshop to build the capacity of policy-makers in this field.
The workshop aims to enable participants to better evaluate existing policies from a vulnerable groups lens and include their issues in relevant national strategies and policies.
Participants include employees of the Ministry of Social Development, in addition to representatives of the relevant ministries, federal state governments, the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, the National Population Council, the National Institution for Human Rights, as well as civil society organizations and national federations of persons with disabilities.
