Older persons constitute one of the most vulnerable groups in Iraq, where many of them are at risk of poverty, disease and isolation as a result of the crises that have impacted Iraq over the past years, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
To address the issues of older persons and respond to their priorities, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, with the support of ESCWA, has prepared a draft national policy for older persons 2022-2032, adopting a participatory approach involving various governmental and non-governmental entities in Iraq.
This workshop reviews the draft national policy with the participation of representatives of various ministries, relevant government bodies, civil society, representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and ESCWA experts.
