This regional workshop serves as both an informative platform to provide participants with an overview of debt management and debt data reporting practices in the Arab region, and to discuss the diagnostic report produced by ESCWA.
The main objectives of this workshop are to:
- Introduce the project and its capacity to contribute to sustainable debt optimization and assess the needs of Arab States;
- Discuss debt data management tools and challenges;
- Discuss debt management practices and debt sustainability strategies based on the diagnostic report;
- Target piloting with two member States for follow up and prepare a detailed implementation plan between ESCWA and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development;
- Discuss the next steps with partners and member States.
The participants include representatives from ministries of finance and central banks from ESCWA member States and international experts on public debt management.
