Within the framework of ESCWA programmes on supporting market competition and micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Arab region, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and ESCWA are organizing a virtual regional dialogue in collaboration with the Egyptian Competition Authority. The webinar is titled “Regional Dialogue: The Role of Competition Policy in Supporting MSMEs Economic Recovery in the Post COVID-19 Crisis”.
The dialogue brings together policymakers, competition authorities and MSME representatives. UNCTAD is presenting the policy recommendations of their report on the interface between competition policy and MSME market access. ESCWA is presenting its work on the impact of COVID-19 on economies in the Arab region. Arab countries and competition authorities are sharing their experiences in dealing with market competition challenges that emerged during the pandemic and the mitigation measures taken. Discussions are covering a variety of topics related to market structure, competition law and policy, and state support.
