The Committee on Energy, established pursuant to ESCWA resolution 204 (XVIII) of 25 May 1995, is holding its thirteenth session virtually, on 20 and 21 September 2021. The Committee participates in the development and formulation of ESCWA priorities in the field of energy and follows up on related activities. It also monitors energy-related developments in ESCWA member States and the regional and global arenas.
The session will provide a platform for member State representatives to discuss issues including progress in the regional initiative to promote small–scale renewable energy applications in rural areas of the Arab region (REGEND); the activities of the ESCWA Group of Experts on Fossil Fuel; extractive industries and the transition to sustainable systems, and regional priorities for the coming years in the field of energy.
