Committee on Energy
The Committee brings together specialized member States representatives to tackle the key contribution of the energy sector in the Arab region’s socioeconomic development.
The Committee on Energy was established in accordance with resolution 204 (XVIII) of 25 May 1995, which was endorsed by Economic and Social Council resolution 1995/25 of 24 July 1995. It holds its sessions biannually. The Committee addresses the contribution of the energy sector to socioeconomic development in the Arab region. It brings together representatives of ESCWA member States specialized in the field of energy to consider the sector’s importance in socioeconomic development. The Committee is tasked with identifying and formulating priorities for ESCWA and member States, monitoring progress made in implementing its recommendations, and following up on international and regional conferences in the field of energy.
