Term:
Aluminium tolerance; aluminium toxicity tolerance; Al tolerance
Definition:

While low pH can restrict plant growth in its own right, in most cases it is the dissolution of toxic metals, particularly aluminum (Al), which restricts plant growth. Aluminum is the most abundant metal in the earth’s crust and comprises some 7% of its mass. Dissolution of just a small fraction of the aluminium compounds in soils can result in serious Al toxicity to susceptible species.
