Beirut, 10 November 2010 (UN Information Services)-- UN Deputy Secretary-General Asha Rose Migiro arrived in Beirut this morning for a two-day visit. During her stay in the Lebanese capital, Migiro will take part in a regional meeting for coordination of the work of UN agencies and bodies in Arab countries.
Migiro is scheduled to mee with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, and with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who will attend the UN regional meeting at the UN House in Beirut and will deliver a statement there.
Prior to her appointment in the UN, Migiro was the first woman to serve as minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation in her home country Tanzania.
