In light of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the rapid growth and change in labour markets, as well as the demand for jobs with specific skills related to artificial intelligence, digitization, and globalization, there is a need to use modern technology and benefit from available data from various sources, especially big data, to develop the labour market in the region.
On 24 July, ESCWA and the Gulf Statistical Center held a regional workshop on the ESCWA Skills Monitor project and the future of labour market in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The workshop shed light on the project, which supports policymakers to develop the labour market and adapt to the changes.
Participants learned about the components of the monitor, its outputs, and the possibility of benefiting from it in national institutions in member States related to the labour market and the qualification of human cadres.
