On 12 April, ESCWA participated in a virtual seminar on the "Revised Arab Multidimensional Poverty Index 2021" organized by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) at Oxford University and the UNDP Human Development Report Office.
ESCWA presented the revised Arab Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) framework, resulting from technical work undertaken by ESCWA, OPHI and LAS, and consultations with stakeholders.
The presentation laid out the process leading up to the formal endorsement of the Index, its structure, and the preliminary estimates of multidimensional poverty in 11 Arab countries using the revised framework.
