Executive Secretary Meets Lebanese Minister of State for Planning and Deputy Transport Minister of Yemen

          Beirut, 29 August 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) -- ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim today visited Lebanese Minister of State for Planning, Michel Pharaon, at the top of a delegation comprising his Special Assistant Mohanad Al-Musawi, Chief of Economic Development and Poverty Section Khaled Abu-Ismail and Chief of Economic Governance and Planning Ahmed Kamaly.

          During the meeting, Pharaon stressed the importance of the presence of ESCWA in Beirut and its role at the service of the governments of the region.  

          For his part, the Executive Secretary put the capacities of ESCWA at the disposal of the Ministry of Planning in view of the importance of planning to Lebanon and to other State areas.

          Alhakim received Deputy Minister of Transportation of Yemen Nasser Al Sherif at the UN House.

          The two sides discussed cooperation in the field of transportation between ESCWA and Yemen and ESCWA’s contribution to the government of Yemen in terms of technical cooperation.

          The ambassador of Yemen to Lebanon Abdullah Abed AlKarim AlDeis and ESCWA Regional Adviser on Transport and Logistics, Yarob Badr, also attended the meeting.
