The third meeting of the Regional Working Group of the ESCWA Statistical Committee was organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) at the United Nations House in Beirut on 1 and 2 February 2010. The main topics on the agenda included: the activities of the World Statistics Day at the national and regional levels, coordinating the positions of ESCWA member countries during the forty-first session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC), discussing the Statistics Division’s strategic framework for the biennium 2012-2013, and the dissemination of statistics. The meeting was held at the request of the national statistical offices (NSOs) in the ESCWA region to discuss points on the agenda of the forty-first session of the UNSC so as to reach in the course of the meeting a unified position and to confer with the ESCWA secretariat on its programme of work and activities.
