ESCWA Member States requested in-depth webinars on the experiences of countries that conducted their population and housing censuses using either the registry approach or the combined methodology approach. In 2021, the State of Qatar conducted a census using mixed methodologies, including the use of administrative records data, on-line self-enumeration and electronic enumeration. Given the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, health and safety measures were taken while the census was undertaken.
In cooperation with the Planning and Statistics Authority of Qatar, ESCWA is organizing a series of virtual sessions to present and discuss Qatar's experiences in shifting from conducting the census using traditional methods to a census based on both administrative records and mixed methodologies, addressing challenges and solutions.
Three knowledge-sharing sessions are being held on Qatar 's experiences:
Webinar 1: planning and preparation of Qatar's census
Webinar 2: implementation and quality control
Webinar 3: analysis and dissemination of data and its use
