The second session of the Committee on Trade Policies will focus on the policy tools developed by ESCWA to promote economic integration and trade facilitation in the Arab region.

The Committee on Trade Policies in States Members of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) was established pursuant to ESCWA resolution 332 (XXX) of 28 June 2018, which was endorsed by the United Nations Economic and Social Council in its resolution 2019/30 of 23 July 2019. The Committee aims to monitor progress achieved by ESCWA and in member States in the field of trade policies; follow up on related international and regional conferences and forums; contribute to trade policy harmonization; and coordinate Arab positions at the international level.

The second session of the Committee on Trade Policies will focus on the policy tools developed by ESCWA to support member States with data, information, modeling and analyses on trade. The agenda also includes a review of the work of ESCWA in the area of trade policies since the previous session. At the conclusion of its proceedings, the Committee will make concrete recommendations on ways to develop trade in the Arab region.
