The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing a Buyers-Sellers Meeting on Value Chain Development following the four-day Training Workshop on Agriculture Green Technologies that will involve women cooperatives working in the agriculture sector in the Bekaa region of Lebanon. This buyers-sellers meeting will gather officials from research institutes, representatives from the Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and technical experts (producers, exporters and service providers) as well as women participants from agricultural cooperatives and other concerned entities across the food value chain.
This meeting aims at strengthening capacities of local cooperatives working in the agri-food sector in the Bekaa region of Lebanon to improve their production. The meeting will also explore options for using local selected produce (peaches, tomatoes, chilies and beans) to develop new food products with good marketing potential, thus contributing to a more sustainable and resilient food value chain.
