The Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD) is the primary regional mechanism for the follow up and review of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Arab region. It brings together Arab Governments and sustainable development stakeholders to discuss progress, review national and regional experiences, and consider the latest developments and implementation mechanisms of the 2030 Agenda at the national and regional levels. AFSD’s outcome formally delivers the voice of the region to the global High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) held annually in New York.
Arab Forum for Sustainable Development 2022 is convened under the theme "Recovery and Resilience" and reviews the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) globally reviewed at HLPF: SDGs 4, 5, 14, 15, and 17. The organization of AFSD relies on a strong partnership with the League of Arab States and the United Nations agencies operating in the Arab region.
AFSD-2022 will be chaired by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The final report will be presented by the Chair of the forum as the main input of the Arab region to the 2022 HLPF.
