Partnership Building Forum for Arab Domains on the Internet

ESCWA and the League of Arab States (LAS) are organizing a Partnership Building Forum for the Implementation of the Arab Top Level Domains (TLD) “.arab” & “.عرب”, on 5 and 6 July 2011 at the Fairmont Heliopolis and Towers Hotel in Cairo, Egypt. This forum is organized in partnership with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and hosted by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in Egypt. The forum opens at 10:00 AM on Tuesday 5 July with statements by the organizers. Sessions on the progress of the Arab TLDs project as well as ICANN’s new TLD programme will tail the opening. This forum will present an opportunity for building a regional consortium of parties interested in establishing and operating the Arab TLDs registry. It will act as a platform for networking, registrars-registries meetings, opportunities for collaboration and partnership formation. The forum will also tackle TLD-related topics, such as the importance and investment opportunities of the domain name industry, as well as the challenges facing it and the way forward.
