January 2005

Yemen is the only least developed country (LDC) in the ESCWA region. This study is an expos of measures adopted by Yemen towards the implementation of the Plan of Action that was adopted in 2001 by the Third United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries. Using an analysis of major social and economic indicators, this study assesses the policies and steps undertaken by Yemen during the period 2001-2005, and contributes towards assisting Yemen in terms of procuring the necessary funding for its development strategy.
