In July, ESCWA in cooperation with UNSD and GCC-Stat, organized its fourth technical advisory group for economic statistics, where they discussed new methods for data collection, as well as digitization, e-commerce and digital economy.
Participants reviewed what was discussed during the inception webinar on the System of National Accounts (SNA), and followed up on the difficulties encountered by the Arab region in compiling economic statistics during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They also emphasized enhancing coordination and cooperation at the national, regional and international levels, as well as producing and disseminating economic indicators that could be used in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
