To support member States in their efforts to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on persons with disabilities, ESCWA held on 24 June an online meeting for senior officials in the region.
The meeting was organized with the League of Arab States (LAS), in coordination with the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General on Disability and Accessibility, María Soledad Cisternas Reyes.
Over 60 participants highlighted national initiatives and shared experiences and practices adopted to address the health, social and economic impacts of the pandemic on persons with disabilities. The meeting concluded with recommendations for better inclusion and empowerment.
