On 2 November, ESCWA held the second virtual meeting of its Expert Group on Social Protection Reform, which was established to advance regional coordination and cooperation on social protection issues.
ESCWA presented a tool it is developing to calculate national rates of multidimensional poverty. The tool is aimed at supporting member States in poverty measurement and development of evidence-based social policies to combat it.
The meeting also shed light on how to link multidimensional poverty measurement with the principles of social justice, especially equality and social protection.
