To advance the debate on conflict prevention in the Arab region, ESCWA organized an expert group meeting on 30 May, titled “Peacebuilding in a Changing Risk Landscape”.
Participants examined how conflict, climate change and development-related risks exacerbate vulnerabilities, erode resilience, and threaten pathways to peace. They also discussed the importance of integrating risk assessment into policymaking to prioritize prevention and enhance resilience.
The meeting reflected on the continued relevance of the United Nations-World Bank publication titled “Pathways for Peace: Inclusive Approaches to Preventing Violent Conflict”, which focuses on the fragility of the Arab region and the ever-evolving landscape of conflict.
