On 13 July, ESCWA and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Children and the Family in Mauritania launched a participatory gender audit as a preliminary step to implement the ESCWA action plan on gender equality and the empowerment of women in national institutions.
Participants hoped that this pioneering initiative would strengthen the capacities of the Ministry and boost the exchange of knowledge and experience among national women’s machineries in Arab countries.
To implement the action plan, ESCWA is building on its expertise and experiences in Jordan and Qatar, hoping to widen its scope to all remaining member States.
