The Arab region has witnessed a surge in engagement with United Nations Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security in recent years, through the formulation of national action plans (NAPs) for its implementation.
Experience has shown that having a costed and budgeted monitoring and evaluation framework is a requirement for effective NAP implementation. To support national efforts in that regard, ESCWA organized a subregional webinar on the subject from 20 to 23 July.
Participants and experts discussed the importance of such frameworks and their use of results-oriented, SMART indicators (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound). They also reviewed good practices and lessons learned in estimating the costs of NAP implementation.
