Improving digital accessibility in the Arab region

The need to develop digital accessibility in all sectors, and specifically in the fields of education and health, has become more prominent than ever with COVID-19.

As part of the Arab Disability Inclusion Platform (ADIP) project, ESCWA held a series of virtual meetings on 10 and 11 November about national policies and technical guidelines for digital accessibility in the Arab region. Government officials and experts in disability and the information and communication technology (ICT) sectors came together to discuss means to improve draft policies and guideline templates proposed by ESCWA.
 
ADIP is aimed at supporting policymakers in improving e-accessibility, including through an electronic platform featuring resources, success stories and best practices. ADIP will also contribute to bridging the digital divide and increasing ICT access and use throughout the region.
