On 11 August, as part of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2020, ESCWA, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Regional Office for Arab States and other partners held a virtual workshop to discuss progress in the implementation of WSIS outcomes in the Arab region.
The event gathered about 35 participants, including representatives of global and regional entities, and other stakeholders from the information and communications technology (ICT) sector in the region.
Discussions addressed digital cooperation, development in the next decade and steps forward towards full implementation of WSIS outcomes and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ESCWA presented a unified Arab digital agenda and strategy prepared jointly with the League of Arab States (LAS) and other organizations.
