To discuss the impact of COVID-19 on Arab economies, and particularly on trade and foreign direct investment (FDI) performance, ESCWA organized on 28 October two webinars in cooperation with OECD, UNCTAD and the International Trade Center.
The first webinar discussed the impact of the pandemic on trade and FDI in the region, including the restriction of the flow of goods, services, capital and people, and the disruption of supply chains and production networks, as well as travel, tourism and retail trade.
For its part, the second webinar served as an avenue to present tools for estimating, monitoring and evaluating the impact of the pandemic on global and regional value chains. Participants also discussed the role of regional and international cooperation in that context.
