On 24 June, ESCWA and UN DESA jointly organized a webinar to discuss public governance and innovative solutions in times of COVID-19 in the Arab region.
To mitigate the socioeconomic impact of the pandemic, participants proposed strengthening employment legislation and ensuring social protection and financial inclusion for all, as well as accelerating digital transformation.
ESCWA stressed that COVID-19 was not just a health and vaccine challenge but rather a development one with deep national repercussions. The virus highlighted more than ever the importance of local communities in ensuring the success of public policy.
