In June, ESCWA participated in a webinar organized by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Beirut on “Empowerment and Protection of Women and Girls”.
ESCWA briefed the participants on the role of the United Nations and the efforts exerted in the Arab region to protect women from violence, discrimination, and inequality.
Participants also learned about the gender-related activities carried out by ESCWA and other UN agencies and the strategies and action plans they are developing with a gender equality perspective. They were also informed about the joint work with the National Commission for Lebanese Women to combat violence against women and girls and to implement the national action plan related to the Security Council resolution 1325.
