On 15 March, ESCWA participated in parliamentary hearings organized by the Lebanese Women and Children Parliamentary Committee on women’s economic security in Lebanon during crises, including COVID-19.
ESCWA underlined that one of the major obstructions to women’s access to the labour market was unpaid care work, a burden mostly carried by them and which became heavier during the pandemic.
The hearings consist of deliberations with stakeholders, researchers and experts, aimed at ensuring the participation of all parties in guiding the decision-making process.
