ESCWA participated in the Arab Science Week, an online event held to celebrate science and technology in the region from 15 to 23 August. As part of the messages, it emphasized, ESCWA underlined the importance of participatory approaches to empower young people to further contribute to development.
During an interactive workshop entitled “Towards clean and sustainable energy for a better future” and dedicated to young people, ESCWA also shed light on the links between sustainable energy, water, food and climate change. It advocated for the adoption of an integrated approach to the well-being of future generations and to socioeconomic and environmental development.
In another session on “Existential Challenge: Water, Energy and Food – How can Arabs survive the scarcity of resources?”, ESCWA flagged the importance of a people-centered approach to natural resources management, guided by universal human rights.
