On 29 May, ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti took part in the “Arab Conference on Cooperation on Climate Change” hosted by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), where she presented the “Arab Climate Change Capacity Building Initiative”.
Dashti stressed that climate financing in the Arab region wasn't sufficient, and that improving the quantity and quality of funds was necessary to empower countries to fulfill their climate goals and limit the impacts of climate change.
The Arab Climate Change Capacity Building initiative aims to build the capacity of Arab States to better respond to the consequences of climate change, by fostering regional approaches to inform climate policy and increase financing.
