On 28 October, ESCWA took part in the 26th meeting of senior officials of the United Nations Environment Management Group, reiterating its full engagement with United Nations and regional partners to increase policy coherence for better COVID-19 recovery and climate action.
ESCWA stressed the importance of considering the water-energy-food nexus in policy formulation and implementation. It also underlined the need for mainstreaming appropriate green technologies to improve productive sectors and rural livelihoods in the Arab region.
ESCWA also highlighted the instrumental role of the Arab Centre for Climate Change Policies in translating studies into policies and actions and supporting capacity-building programmes in members States.
