To raise awareness on the socio-economic impact of sand and dust storms and their transboundary nature, ESCWA held on 7 July a webinar on “Enhancing Understanding and Expanding Inter-regional and Regional Cooperation on Sand and Dust Storms".
The webinar focused on enhancing the understanding of the risks of sand and dust storms and showcasing examples and identifying opportunities at the regional level around the world to cope with the threat of sand and dust storms. Participants agreed on enhancing collaboration among actors and identifying possible areas for joint activities and studies across regions.
The webinar was held in collaboration with ESCAP, the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management, the WMO and FAO.
