On 14 and 15 April, ESCWA and the Ministry of Communication and Technology in Somalia organized a national workshop on “E-Government and Digital Transformation: Policies and Indicators” to discuss main concepts, indicators, policy requirements, and national and regional experiences of digital government .
Representatives from public and private institutions in Somalia discussed e-government initiatives and related challenges, stressing the importance of building a well-designed national strategy that identifies the roles of different stakeholders to ensure success.
ESCWA presented the concepts and expected impact of digital transformation and digital government, providing examples of applications in the education and health fields. It also highlighted some digital government requirements, including strategy development and main indicators. It finally presented country experiences in digital transformation from the world and the Arab region.
