On 27 January, the Technical Secretariat of the Joint Arab Ministerial Council for Water and Agriculture in the AOAD, in cooperation with FAO RNE and ESCWA, organized a virtual meeting to review the draft action plan to implement the 2019 Cairo Declaration for coordination between the agriculture and water sectors.
More than 75 experts representing Arab ministries in charge of water and agriculture, as well as regional organizations, discussed and commented the draft action plan for the period 2021-2025.
Participants proposed changes to improve the plan, stressing the need for regular assessments and monitoring of its benefits for countries. Other rounds of discussions will follow, leading to the plan’s adoption at the joint ministerial meeting to be held next June.
