To advance discussions on competition policy in the Arab and Africa regions, ESCWA participated in a webinar on 20 August as part of the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-20).
The webinar provided an analysis of competition policies and regulations in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, in particular telecommunications in the highly competitive digital platforms environment.
Panelists discussed strategies and innovative solutions that could be adopted to further regulate that environment in the two regions where the levels of infrastructure development, ICT service penetration rates, and the sector’s contribution to the job market are unequal within and among countries.
