To better respond to disasters and build long-term resilience in the Sudan, ESCWA held a workshop on “Adaptive Social Protection for effective Disaster Risk Management".
Participants learned about the basics of disaster risk management, social protection and their inter-linkages and contribution towards reducing vulnerabilities, conflicts and climatic shocks. They also discussed various risks faced in different locations in the country and the impact of the ongoing social protection programme and its benefits to the affected population.
In addition, participants familiarized themselves with current global, regional and national policies and commitments.
