In order to ensure the accuracy of National Accounts expenditure data and hence reliability of the International Comparison Program (ICP) results, ESCWA conducted a regional meeting for the validation of 2011 to 2017 National Accounts expenditure data and treatment of outliers.
The meeting was attended by participants from 11 member countries and focused on:
- The presentation of preliminary ICP results from the National Accounts perspective, with focus on GDP measures, Gross Fixed Capital Formation and government expenditures
- Validation sessions for the time series of expenditure data at the national, sub-regional and regional levels
- Working sessions wherein country representatives reviewed and updated their data based on findings from the validation
- Presentation and discussion on the National Accounts expenditure data compilation strategy for sub-national purchasing power parity computation.
