The sixth annual meeting of the Intersessional Group of Experts on Disability is being held virtually, and includes four main pillars:
- Follow-up on the latest country updates on disability assessment and determination. Countries are presenting developments and discussing recommendations from the previous annual meeting;
- Discussion of national disability strategies for ESCWA member States; action plans can play an important role in supporting the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. A draft ESCWA paper on this subject is also being discussed;
- Accessibility of the built environment in the Arab region; participants are discussing and reviewing innovative solutions from different countries. A draft ESCWA paper on this subject is also being discussed;
- Updates on current activities are being shared by ESCWA and member States, and next year's work plan is being discussed.
