ESCWA, in cooperation with the Department of Human Development and the Department of Employment and Labor Force Policies of the Ministry of Planning in Iraq, is organizing a national workshop on integrating social justice principles and identifying social justice gaps in national employment policy.
This training workshop is within the framework of technical support provided by ESCWA to Iraq in relation to developing a national programme on social justice. It builds national capacities for preparing development policies, programmes and plans in line with social justice, equality and participation to further the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Leave No One Behind principle.
The objectives of the workshop are to:
- Enhance the knowledge and skills of relevant government officials on the concept of social justice and how to integrate the principles of social justice during policy development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation using the Social Justice Policy Gap Assessment Tool
- Build the capacity of participants in addressing social justice gaps in national employment policy and ensuring alignment with the principles of social justice
- Conduct consultative meetings to discuss priority areas to be addressed in the social justice programme.
The training workshop targets government officials concerned with development of national employment policy, as well as those responsible for implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholders in youth employment and labour market issues.
