ESCWA organized a Consultative Virtual meeting for the Working Group of the Statistical Committee on 18 February 2021.
The Working Group of ESCWA’s Statistical Committee met on-line on 18 February, under the chairmanship of Lebanon, one week after its formal intergovernmental 14th session, to coordinate the Arab position regarding the agenda items of the United Nations Statistical Commission in its fifty-second session in March 2021. ESCWA’s secretariat prepared the recommendations in the background documents and consolidated the inputs of countries for the written interventions reflecting common position on important items such as SDGs, Economic Statistics and Revision of the system of National Accounts, Business and Trade Statistics, Migration Statistics, Household surveys, and Big data. The working members requested the UN Statistical Commission to provide guidance and technical on the revision and update of the National Accounts System and to establish a task force on Migration statistics that takes into account the Arab situation, and welcomed the Big Data platform established UAE as part of the global one and to make bet use of this regional platform.
