Committee on Technology for Development
The Committee follows up on technological developments and their localization to advance socioeconomic development in the Arab region.
The Committee on Technology for Development was established in accordance with resolution 315 (XXVIII) of 18 September 2014, which was endorsed by the Economic and Social Council in its resolution 2014/35 of 17 November 2017. In recognition of the vital role played by technology in achieving development goals, the Committee on Technology for Development follows up on regional priorities in the field, including in information and communications technology, Internet governance, the digital economy and the information society, as well as in areas related to scientific research and technology transfer. It also follows up on relevant regional and international processes, conferences and forums and coordinates regional efforts to implement ensuing decisions and recommendations, and supports collaboration with regional organizations such as the League of Arab States.
