The private sector

The 2030 Agenda acknowledges “the role of the diverse private sector, ranging from micro-enterprises to cooperatives to multinationals […] in the implementation of the new Agenda”.

ESCWA, in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact, engages the private sector at the regional level in supporting the implementation, follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda. Although growing, the private sector’s participation at the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development remains limited. As such, ESCWA plans to strengthen their engagement in the regional and global mechanisms.
